Legally registered on 22 September 1994 by the Ecuadorian Social Welfare Ministry Agreement No. 002583, it is the only official representative organization of the International Plastic Modeler Society in the country. IPMS Ecuador is also registered at the main United Kingdom and U.S.A. Chapters.

Its goals are promote and communicate the scale modeling activities by means of permanent organization of expositions, events, conferences and contests on a nationwide level.
